Trainee Program

The Housing Authority has numerous trainees, interns, and temporary workers at its sites.  The Authority uses source agencies, such as:  Proteus, Kern County Mental Health (RSA), Community Service, Kern County Probation Department, the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF), Arbor, CalWORKs, and Employers' Training Resource to obtain trainee referrals.  Trainees are placed at our Agency's sites and then instructed in clerical and/or maintenance skills by supervisory mentors, with individual trainee placements lasting up to six months.  Following participation in the Trainee Program, former trainees are eligible to apply for permanent positions within the Housing Authority.  As a testament to the success of the Trainee Program, fifteen (15) percent of the current Agency workforce is comprised of former trainees.
