Housing Counseling
The Housing Authority of the County of Kern recognizes the need to provide supportive services to the residents in Kern County with regard to Housing Counseling. There is a need to assist clients in identifying ways to overcome specific obstacles to achieving a housing goal, and residents in Kern County need assistance with issues such as repairing credit, addressing rental disputes, purchasing a home, locating cash for down payment, being informed of fair housing and fair lending requirements of the Fair Housing Act, or resolving a financial crisis. For these reasons, the Housing Authority is offering services through the Housing Counseling Program. Opportunities available include:
Counseling: Our certified housing counselors can meet with you one-on-one to respond to all of your housing questions. Appointments are available in English and Spanish, or with interpretation in other languages.
Training: We offer a comprehensive array of workshops and seminars to meet your housing needs.
Tenants: We help tenants prevent eviction, resolve landlord-tenant disputes, find rental housing, and review credit, debt and savings to get ready to rent.
